Teacher Leader Summary

Although most of my teaching career has been teaching biology at the high school level, I am proud to share that I have taught grades pre-K through 12th grade in my career.  I have not encountered an age group I didn't like.  Currently, I hold a California teaching credential along with my teaching and administrative license in Ohio.

My style of instruction starts with understanding my students and showing them that they matter to me.  Kids learn best when they know the adult in the room is in their corner and will fight for them.  Now, more than ever, teachers must be aware of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on children and schools.  Although I teach science, I know I am also a social-emotional teacher and a teacher of the English language arts.  Understanding the full scope of my responsibilities as a teacher helps me practice best and serve the range of students that have been in my care.

I have won awards for my student-teacher relationship building and helped empower colleagues to do the same.  I am proud of the work I have done to lead schools into project-based learning and enjoyed every minute of it.
